Cybersecurity Company Moves From West Virginia To Md.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A cybersecurity startup company has moved to Frederick, Md. from West Virginia.

Maryland officials announced Monday that Luminal has been awarded $600,000 from InvestMaryland, a partnership between the state government and venture capital firms.

Luminal seeks to simplify cloud computing systems and improve their security. The governor's office says the company's product, "Fugue," addresses deficiencies in traditional computing architectures. CEO Josh Stella was previously a principal solutions architect at Amazon Web Services.

Luminal is also a finalist for more funds in an InvestMaryland competition.

InvestMaryland has raised $84 million to support the growth of high-tech companies. Gov. Martin O'Malley says investing in young, high-tech companies is a major part of the state's job-creation strategy.
