WEATHER BLOG: Typical Spring Day

Friday was about as close as you can come to a normal day for the time of year, with the high just short of normal, and some sunny breaks between the clouds. The breeze brought real-feel temperatures down a bit however, and a bit more sunshine would have been preferred.

With the upper trough persisting Saturday, we look toward a similar day, with the difference being an increase in upper level energy inviting a spotty instability shower to the area during the afternoon. The best upper level energy will remain off to the west, and low level moisture is lacking. The shower chance overall is rather low.

A strong vorticity max will swing over the NYC area on Sunday, sparing us from a significant increase in shower activity for the second half of the weekend. A shower is still possible, however, especially during the afternoon when some weak instability will be present as a very weak cold front passes over.
