Councilmember: 'Scandal' Wants To Shoot In D.C.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A D.C. councilmember says he's in touch with a producer for the TV drama "Scandal" who'd like to bring the show to the city to shoot scenes in August.

Councilmember Vincent Orange says the "Scandal" shoot would be dependent on continued funding of the District of Columbia's film incentive program.

The incentive fund has $4.5 million this fiscal year, but Mayor Vincent Gray's office has proposed moving that money elsewhere and committing just $1 million to incentives next fiscal year.

Orange says the city needs incentives so that shows set in the nation's capital actually shoot scenes there. He's also met with producers for the Netflix drama "House of Cards," which is made primarily in Maryland.

Others believe the incentive money could be better spent elsewhere.
