Ravens Select DT Jernigan With 48th Overall Pick

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- The Baltimore Ravens have selected Florida State nose tackle Timmy Jernigan in the second round of the NFL draft.

Jernigan, the 48th overall pick, didn't become a starter at FSU until his senior season. The 6-foot-2, 299-pounder had nine tackles against Auburn in the national championship game.

Jernigan is the second straight defensive player taken by Baltimore. Alabama inside linebacker C.J. Mosley was selected Thursday with the 17th overall pick.

The Ravens will be counting on Mosley and Jernigan to improve a defense that finished 12th in the NFL in 2013.

Defensive coordinator Don Pees says of Mosley: "We want to get back to the top on defense, and we think this is the guy right here that can lead us in that direction."
