Steve Melewski joins Scott and Jeremy on The Fan today to talk about the Orioles.
To start off the interview, of course the popular name and pitcher is brought up, the young 21 year old, Dylan Bundy. Bundy will be pitching tomorrow at Aberdeen. Apparently there is a good chance this kid will be moved up as well but it is hard to put a time table on it. Bundy has been rehabbing for a while and the Orioles do not want to put pressure on him. Orioles are not ruling him out. Is it realistic to see him in mid-August? Melewski said that “it is possible.” O’s fans should be really excited about this guy, he has been working really hard.
Now to Bud Norris who is going to the DL. Norris is not ready to start Friday but he should be coming back July 7th. Scott and Jeremy talk about the pitchers that are lined up from Friday until Monday, but what are the Orioles going to do Tuesday? Of course, Tuesday is still a couple days a way, pitchers are not announced yet for Tuesday.
Even though it is Thursday, the talk about Chris Davis’s huge hit on Monday is still exciting for Orioles fans and Davis fans. Does that mean the Davis that hit a huge number of homers last year is back? Davis mechanics of hitting the ball has changed a little bit and looks like it has been giving him a confidence builder. The walk off homerun was defiantly a mental life for the Deputy.
Caleb Joseph has been giving Baltimore something to look at, as well. He had some big bunts and has been driving the ball very well. Melewski does thinks he should be hitting pretty well and his ERA is good, too.
Tomorrow, June 28th, the Orioles play a double header. They have a break tonight.
