OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — Officials in Ocean City, Md. are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Arthur, which already has disrupted the town’s Fourth of July plans.
City officials decided Wednesday to postpone Friday night’s scheduled fireworks to Saturday night.
Mayor Rick Meehan said in a statement issued by the city that the residual effects of the passing storm, including wind and rain, would make it logistically challenging to hold the fireworks shows on Friday, but that sunny weather is forecast for the weekend.
Forecasters say the size and path of the storm are still uncertain, but Ocean City beach patrol officials say dangerous rip currents are possible, and that those rip currents could be especially troublesome if sunny skies on Saturday draw lots of people to the water.
