Man Dies After Being Hit By Car In Forestville

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Police in Prince George's County say they're investigating after a 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a car on July Fourth in Forestville.

Police say officers were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Forestville Road around 9:15 p.m. on July Fourth for a report of a pedestrian collision. Police say when they arrived they found 63-year-old James Hughes of Forestville lying in the roadway. Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that a car was traveling on Pennsylvania Avenue when it struck Hughes, who is believed to have been sitting in the street prior to the crash. Police say the driver remained on the scene.
