Search Continues For Missing Toddlers, Md. Mom With Paranoid Schizophrenia

CLARKSBURG, Md. (WJZ)-- The search for a missing paranoid schizophrenic mother and her two young children turns frantic in Montgomery County, where police continue pleading for the public's help in cracking the case.

Derek Valcourt explains family members of the missing children are also begging for help.

The kids haven't been seen in days. The mother was last seen without them. She's paranoid schizophrenic, off her meds, and her family is scared.

"I really am saying this for my daughter to come home and have help," said Randy Hoggle, missing kids' grandfather.

He's desperate to see his missing 27-year-old daughter, Catherine Hoggle, and his two young grandchildren, 3-year-old Sarah and 2-year-old Jacob.

"I just want my freaking kids back," said Tony Turner, missing kids' father

On Monday Catherine Hoggle told Turner, her common law husband, that she had taken their two kids to an unknown day care, but when he pressed for their whereabouts, she slipped away--sneaking out of a Chick-Fil-A restaurant.

She hasn't come home since. Her family blames her mental health, saying she's diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.

"We know she's probably not been on medication for at least two weeks and thus we know Catherine, this is not you and this is not who you're about and what you do," Randy Hoggle said.

"The family has been extraordinary in helping us," said Captain Darren Franke, Montgomery County Police.

Investigators are conducting exhaustive searches and pleading for the public's help, saying they are gravely concerned for the health and well-being of the children.

The kids' aunt says the families have been on foot passing out flyers.

"Everyone out in the public at gas stations, at bus stations, neighbors, recyclers coming by, I'm walking up and putting this in their face and just putting my face with it, just letting them know this is real and these are two little kids with their mother who just need to be returned back home so they can be cared for and she can be cared for," said Raelane Turner, missing kids' aunt.

Catherine Hoggle loves McDonald's food. She would regularly eat there once a day. Police are now asking McDonalds employees and customers throughout the region to be on the lookout.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the missing mother and those two children are urged to call Montgomery County police immediately.
