Man Arrested In BB Gun Assault Outside Hereford High School

PARKTON, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County Police say a man in his 50s was assaulted with a BB gun on the parking lot of Hereford High School. Now his ex-wife's 24-year-old boyfriend has been arrested for the attack.

Ernesto Alexander Piche was taken into custody without incident in the area of Greenside Drive and Cranbrook Road in Cockeysville after an intensive search that lasted almost two days.

Students were still on campus when police say they responded to a report of a shooting Wednesday night at Hereford High School in the 17300 block of York Road.

Officers learned that the victim, a man in his 50s, had been arguing with his ex-wife in a parking lot outside the school.

"The ex-wife's boyfriend approached him, struck him in the face with a BB or pellet gun, and then fired several shots into his face point blank," said Cpl. John Wachter, Baltimore County police.

Piche then drove off in his girlfriend's car, hitting a car before driving into a tree and fleeing on foot.

The victim was treated at an area hospital and later released; he has a child that attends Hereford High School.

Piche is now being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $275,000 bail.
