2 Jackknifed Semis Cause Huge Delays In D.C. Area

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Commuters met major delays during rush hour Wednesday after two tractor-trailers jackknifed in separate incidents on the Capital Beltway and Interstate 95.

All lanes of the inner loop of the Beltway are closed between Interstate 270 and Old Georgetown Road after a tractor-trailer jackknifed and spilled fuel around 4 a.m. Wednesday in Bethesda.

Another overturned tractor-trailer in Scaggsville had blocked all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 between Route 216 and Route 198 for a couple of hours before the roadway was reopened.

Maryland police recommend drivers call 511 for updates.
