WEATHER BLOG: Saturday

Looking at the surface map we see a cold front moving through the region this morning as an area of low pressure moves through Ontario towards Labrador. This cold front will bring slightly cooler weather today along with more clouds. The winds will shift out of the west behind the front which will allow for the downsloping component. This will create breezy conditions at times this afternoon. Winds aloft at 850mb are 25kts so we could see wind gust around 15kts today. A vort max moving through the base of the trough will spread an area of rain across central NY but could touch off an isolated shower in the Poconos into eastern NY. The I-95 corridor will remain dry with the best chance of seeing a stray shower west of I-95. The coldest air behind the front will be in the base of the trough that is still back in western NY/PA/WV by this afternoon. This will swing through late tonight into tomorrow morning. As the trough swings through we will see a fairly cloudy night with overnight lows running in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Tomorrow heights will rise as the base of the trough moves into New England and high pressure builds in from the west. This high pressure will create quite a pressure gradient. Winds will shift out of the northwest and winds aloft will be around 35kts. This will create wind gust of around 25kts during the day with temperatures in the middle 50s will make the wind chills in the upper 40s. We will see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day with no precipitation Sunday night will be our coldest night this week as high pressure is in control so we will see temperatures tumble into the lower 30s in the colder spots to near 40 along I-95.
