GOP Governors Group To Run Ad For Hogan In Md.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Republican Governors Association ran its first television ad for Larry Hogan in the Maryland governor's race on Thursday.

The new ad highlights a variety of tax increases approved during Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley's two terms as governor.

"Anthony Brown. The second string for O'Malley's third high-tax term," the ad says.

The Democratic Governors Association already has run television ads for Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown. It released a new online ad criticizing Hogan for supporting a reduction in the corporate income tax.

"It's an agenda that doesn't work for the middle class, because Larry Hogan will take Maryland backwards," the ad says.

Both groups promote gubernatorial candidates around the country.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who chairs the RGA, has held two fundraisers for Hogan in Maryland. The latest was this week in Bethesda.

A poll by The Washington Post earlier this month had Brown leading by 9 percentage points.
