No Tricks, Just Treats For Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital Patients

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Ghosts, goblins and ghouls are out looking for tricks and treats, but some of them started early at several Halloween events.

Gigi Barnett has more on the spirited festivities.

On the scariest night of the year, the halls at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital are filled with cheer.

Tricks and treats for all. This is how young patients celebrate the fall.

"Kids who are not in the hospital today get to go door-to-door trick-or-treating. But it's great for our kids in the hospital to go department-to-department trick-or-tricking," said Sheldon Stein, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital president.

A Halloween parade ensued, shedding away most of the blues.

University of Maryland's BioPark has one too.

Where "real" scientists show kids just what they do.

"We are science. Children need to meet science," said Jane Shaab, University of Maryland BioPark executive director.

Tasty treats they receive with glee. Everyone has a favorite. What could yours be?

"Jolly ranchers," one little girl said.

"Chocolate," said Donte Gray, third grader.

Why chocolate?

"Cause it has the most sugar," Donte said.

In addition to the trick-or-treat parade at the BioPark, scientists also hosted a science workshop for students, giving them a hand up in the subject.
