WEATHER BLOG: Saturday

High pressure will slide off the east coast today and allow for southerly winds and our 850mb temperatures to rise. High temperatures today will be right around where they were yesterday. We will not see the downsloping effect as we did yesterday which will hold back temperatures a bit for today. A cold front will be back in eastern Ohio Valley so we will remain dry. The cold front will move through during the overnight hours dry and shift our winds out of the west. This cold front will not usher in any cold air but will cool our 850mb temperatures once again to around 1C by the afternoon.
With the westerly winds we will see temperatures slightly warmer than today with highs in the middle 50s. Monday and Tuesday we will be prefrontal again with a nice southwesterly wind to allow temperatures to rise above normal before a strong cold front moves through Tuesday night or Wednesday depending on the timing on the cold front moving through from the west. This cold front will most likely move through during the day Wednesday. This will allow for a very warm day with high temperatures in the 60s. Not much precipitation will be associated with this cold front so maybe a shower or two but nothing else. Thursday will be much colder behind this front but remaining dry. Friday a wave of low pressure will form along but it appears that the bulk of the precipitation will be offshore. A piece of upper level energy will move through the Mid-Atlantic which could touch off a few snow showers. Saturday will be cold once again and dry as the base of the trough swings through the Northeast. Sunday into Monday we are looking at a possible storm system moving up from the south that could bring wintry weather to our region. Depending on the track of the low pressure we could see our first wintry mix in the viewing area. The best chance will be west of I-95 but we will continue to follow this system.
