Philly Abduction Suspect Caught In Md. Indicted

PHILADELPHIA (WJZ) -- The Virginia man arrested in Maryland after he was identified as a in a Philadelphia area abduction that launched a national search was indicted Thursday in a Pennsylvania court.

Delvin Barnes, 37, was indicted on kidnapping charges, according to U.S. States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Barnes, of Charles City, is suspected in the kidnapping of 22-year-old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither from the Philadelphia area.

Surveillance video of the night Freeland-Gaither was abducted led the FBI, ATF and Philadelphia police on a 24/7 manhunt that spanned into Maryland. Police had tracked her debit card being used at an ATM in Aberdeen.

On the night Nov. 5, Barnes was picked up with Freeland-Gaither in Jessup after police tracked him via his GPS.

He has also been linked to another abduction case in Virginia and has a history of violence.

If convicted, Barnes faces a maximum of life in prison.
