Hundreds Ready For JFK 50 Race In Western Md.

BOONSBORO, Md. (AP) -- Hundreds of runners gathered for the JFK 50 Mile ultramarathon in western Maryland.

The event Saturday began in Boonsboro and takes runners on a course that includes parts of the Appalachian Trail and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.

The annual race began in 1963. It honors President John F. Kennedy's commitment to improve America's physical fitness.
