Booth, however, did not start out in marketing. She has a B.A. in political science & Spanish from Johns Hopkins University; an M.B.A. in international business from The George Washington School of Business; and an M.A. in international politics from The George Washington University, with concentrations in international law and marketing.

Booth started out as an international consultant working on issues concerning drinking water and waste treatment; she traveled extensively covering 51 countries in five of seven continents.

What inspired you to start your current enterprise?

"In 2001, I decided to marry and made the choice to scale back my travel and stay closer to home. I was looking for work-life balance. I had completed my M.B.A. in marketing and had been advising clients on strategic communications - so starting our own company offered the flexibility we needed."

How does your educational background relate to your current role?

"I use my M.B.A. in marketing every day. My focus is on developing strategies that help my clients grow their business. Having a background in marketing with additional coursework in finance, accounting and management gives me the skills I need to provide the strategic advice they're looking for."

How has your education helped to further your career and contributed to your success?

"I credit my education with securing my first job. Management consulting is very competitive; and my degrees have helped. I also specifically credit my experience at Johns Hopkins which taught me how to be a good learner; a skill essential in the field of technology, where things are always changing."

What is some advice that you can offer others looking to go into your field?

"The number one piece of advice I have for anyone looking for a career in marketing is to work on becoming a great writer. It's a content-driven world."
