Winter Storm Warnings & Advisories No Longer In Effect In Maryland

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Winter storm warnings and advisories are no longer in effect for the Baltimore metro area.

Update, Nov. 26, 6:12 p.m.: The storm has moved out but highway officials warn that refreezing is a concern Wednesday night into Thursday. Thursday's temperatures are expected to reach the low 40s.

Update, Nov. 26, 2:03 p.m.: Temperatures are at or above 32° around metro area. Wet snow & rain are making for slush on untreated surfaces, however the SHA is out treating most state-maintained roadways, while local jurisdictions have their public works departments to treat the roads.

Update, Nov. 26, 12:04 p.m.: The snow continues to fall in the Baltimore metro region and Western Md. Marty Bass
reports that the snow will taper off sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Latest snowfall totals: Oella (0.5"), Norrisville (0.8"), Damascus (1.3"),Long Green (0.3"), Frostburg (4.0").

Conditions are changing for those headed out on the roadways and although some delays have been reported for flights at BWI Airport, they aren't major.

Update, Nov. 26 11:34 a.m.:  Heavy snow is falling in Baltimore now and there is even some thunder. Snow is beginning to stick around Maryland with reports of snow falling in Odenton, Bowie, Hunt Valley and across western Maryland where four counties are under a snow emergency. Rain continues on the eastern shore.

The State Highway administration is out in full force salting roadways to keep the snow from making roads slick.

Update, Nov. 26, 10:39 a.m.: Snow continues to fall is Maryland, some areas are heavier than others.

Along I-95 there are some delays as snow falls, but it's not sticking.  Viewers report snow in other parts of Maryland like Timonium, but say it's not sticking there either.

Western Maryland continues to see the heaviest snow fall with some snow sticking in some areas. Frederick, Garrett, Washington and Carroll counties are under snow emergencies, according to the State Highway Administration.

Update, Nov. 26, 9:36 a.m.: Snow is now falling in Baltimore and along major roadways like I-695 and I-95.

Update, Nov. 26, 9:10 a.m: Sleet has been reported along I-95 near Tydings Bridge, while a snow/sleet mix is falling on I-795 at Cockeys Mill and in Clarksburg. Snow continues to fall in western Md. with some snowflakes reported in Owings Mills.

Update, Nov. 26 8:27 a.m.: Snow is falling in areas west of Hagerstown with 0.5 inch of snowfall already reported in Frostburg.

Parts of Baltimore County and areas north and west of the city have been issued a winter storm warning while a winter weather advisory is in effect in Baltimore city and places south and east.

Roads could be snow covered and slippery and visibility may be reduced. The snow is expected to have an impact of travel plans for those driving or flying for Thanksgiving weekend.

More than 980,000 Marylanders will be on the road this holiday, according to AAA.
