Injury Report: Torrey Smith's Streak Should Continue Against Jaguars

By Samuel Njoku

The Ravens are reaching the home-stretch of the regular season as two of their final three games are in M&T Bank Stadium. They find themselves in the same predicament as most teams this late in the season – everyone’s banged up. But with playoff berths on the line throughout the league, some players will push through their injuries.

One such player is Torrey Smith, who has been dealing with a knee injury the past two weeks. Last Sunday, it appeared as if Smith would be ready to go. But right before kickoff, his knee swelled up and knocked down his mobility considerably. Throughout the week, Baltimore has taken it slow with Torrey Smith as they’d tried to give him proper time to heal. He was held out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he practiced Friday and is listed as probable to play on Sunday. Torrey Smith has never missed a game in his career and based on the injury report, it doesn’t appear as if that streak will be coming to an end.

If Torrey can’t play, the Ravens have plenty of options to turn to. Marlon Brown and Kamar Aiken played well against the Dolphins last week. Another option is Michael Campanaro who has dealt with a thigh injury for a few weeks now. There was a chance that Campanaro could have gone last week if Torrey Smith couldn’t go, but that wasn’t the case. Campanaro wasn’t even listed on the injury report this week which suggests that he’s fully capable of playing against the Jaguars. Whether he’s active will depend solely on the coaching staff.

Another athlete who appears to be ready to play is Anthony Levine. He suffered a concussion but passed protocol and should be a go against the Jaguars as Baltimore plans to start him opposite Lardarius Webb. Danny Gorrer suffered a season-ending injury and the Ravens brought in Antoine Cason to replace him. With a new defense to learn, it’ll be interesting to see how much he plays on Sunday against Jacksonville
