Woman Denies Involvement Md. Grandmother's Killing

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Court documents say a Frederick County woman charged with fatally stabbing her grandmother told Maryland State Police that she saw a man running from the house shortly after the attack.

Charging documents released Monday show that 19-year-old Hestina Harris denies having killed 67-year-old Lillie Morris on Dec. 22 at the home near Burkittsville they share with Morris' husband and Harris' 4-month-old child.

Harris was arrested Wednesday after investigators found inconsistencies in her statements. They also found a blood-stained T-shirt that Harris acknowledged was hers.

Police say Harris' statement that she wore the shirt while kneeling over her grandmother's body on the lawn conflicts with accounts given by witnesses who stopped by to help.

Harris is being held without bail pending an afternoon bond review.
