2 Men Dead In Baltimore City Shooting

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)— Authorities in Baltimore City are investigating after a shooting left two men dead on Friday afternoon.

Christie Ileto has the details.

Gunfire on a quiet street. Two men shot dead, just as a nearby elementary school was dismissing kids.

"It's a body right there up from my house, on Northern Parkway, there's one there. We live here! This stuff don't happen," said Courtney Maitland.

Tactical teams surrounded their target. The 5900 block of Glenkirk Ave. is a crime scene.

"One of the guys that they was chasing was turning around fire at the guy with the M16, and it was going down," said Bernard Maitland.

Police have not confirmed the type of guns used, but witnesses say they heard a flurry of shots, then sirens.

"Police everywhere, fire truck, ambulance-nobody could get pass the street," said Maitland.

While a tactical team investigated, police have set up at least a three-block radius around the area, leaving many residents who live here unable to get to their homes," said Venus Ricks.

"I'm trying to find out whether or not I can cross the tape to get to my house," said one resident.

"It's very frightening to know that you have someone who's armed and dangerous who shot two individuals and that they're still on the loose.

Police couldn't confirm neighbor concerns if the suspect had fled into his home, but do have a person of interest in custody.
