"I Will Be Playing For A Different Team," Says Torrey Smith In A Blog Post

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith is leaving Baltimore, making his announcement in a blog Sunday night.

Tracey Leong has reaction from the fans on his departure.

In his blog titled "Dear Baltimore", he thanks the entire community for contributing to his success.

And fans say it's a bitter sweet goodbye to see his four year run with the Ravens end.

Star wide receiver and fan favorite Torrey Smith is flying out of the nest at M & T Bank Stadium.

Describing the decision on his website Sunday, "It is tough to leave a city that I now call home," Smith said.

"I mean it's upsetting to me to hear something like that he's been a great player with us, Super Bowl era and all that," said Joseph Mummert.

The University of Maryland graduate was drafted in 2011 by the Ravens. His decision to leave the team does not surprise some fans.

"It's probably about time to go, I mean he's given us some good years, but the amount of money he would need would make us lose too much and it's probably good for the whole team," said Brendan Coleman.

While it is unclear where Torrey Smith is heading, it is clear he will always have roots here in Charm City.

In his blog he says in part, "My commitment to the city is for life. This isn't a goodbye because I will still be around and Baltimore will continue to be my home in the off season and when my career is done."

"He's already going to have love for Baltimore, Maryland he will always be around," Coleman said.

Actively giving back to the community, the father, husband and football player making his mark on and off the gridiron.

"These last four years have been amazing for me. i have been able to grow as a player, and more importantly, as a man," said Smith.

As Torrey Smith says goodbye to the Ravens, there is speculation he may be joining the 49ers.

However, we will not know for sure until Tuesday.

During his career with the Ravens Torrey Smith and the team won the Super Bowl in 2012.
