3 Killed Including Father And Daughter In Rt. 50 Crash

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)—Police say three people have died following a weekend crash on Rt. 50 in Anne Arundel County.

Police say as traffic was stopped at a standstill on Rt. 50 due to a prior accident near Exit 23, a 2011 Nissan Xterra, driven by an off-duty Takoma Park police officer, failed to stop, causing a three-car crash just before 3 p.m. Saturday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Nissan overturned on Rt. 50 at the Rt. 665 overpass just after slamming into a 2007 Toyota Corolla and a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

Three people were inside the Toyota at the time of the crash.

Raymond W. Badders, 63, of Manchester, was a passenger in the back seat and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Susannah Badders, 19, who was Raymond's daughter, and 19-year-old Jason Simpkins were injured in Saturday's accident and flown to Shock Trauma.

Police said both Susannah and Jason died from their injuries Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say the Jeep was occupied by two people. They were uninjured during the accident.

An investigation will determine if any charges will be filed.
