Investigation Continues Into Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against 2 Firefighters

REISTERSTOWN, Md. (WJZ) --  A sexual misconduct investigation inside a local firehouse.

Two Baltimore County firefighters are off the job. They're suspended as investigators look into whether a crime was committed inside the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company.

Meghan McCorkell has more on the investigation.

Police are not identifying the two fire company members involved in the investigation. So far, no charges have been filed.

Behind the doors of the Reisterstown VFC, police conducted a search warrant Wednesday. Investigators are looking into allegations that two firefighters were involved in sexual misconduct inside the building.

Police say the investigation started in mid-January.

"It began when a commander in the Baltimore County Fire Department became aware of possible misconduct at Reisterstown, and the fire department immediately notified the police department," said Elise Armacost, Baltimore County Police Department.

WJZ has learned the two firefighters involved are a career firefighter/EMT and a probationary EMT, who also volunteer at Reisterstown. On Wednesday, the men were suspended from both jobs.

Officials at the Reisterstown VFC say they are fully cooperating with police.

In a statement, saying: "All of the accused individuals have been suspended from the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company pending the outcome of the investigation.'

Police won't say if anyone else who may have been at the firehouse is involved in the allegations

McCorkell: "Is there any fear for members of the public that maybe were at that fire station?"

Armacost: "Because of where we are with this investigation and the fact that it is not completed, we are not able to provide that kind of detail."

Investigators hope to have more answers in the next few weeks.

Both men are suspended without pay as the investigation continues.

Officials say neither of the two men are in supervisory positions at the fire company.
