Glen Burnie Man Gets 11 Years For Trafficking Teen For Sex

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Glen Burnie man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for trafficking a teenage girl for sex in Baltimore.

Thomas Tinsley was sentenced Friday in federal court in Baltimore. The 29-year-old pleaded guilty last year to sex trafficking.

Prosecutors say Tinsley met a 15-year-old runaway in downtown Baltimore in May 2013 and asked her to live with him at a motel. Prosecutors say the two began having sex, and soon after that, Tinsley encouraged the girl to prostitute herself to pay for the motel room and provide him with additional money.

Prosecutors say Tinsley monitored the girl's sexual encounters, and sometimes negotiated the deals himself.

Tinsley was arrested after someone reported him to the FBI. Prosecutors say he had previously been convicted of having sex with a minor.
