Anne Arundel County Officer Charged In Biting Man's Testicles

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- An Anne Arundel County police officer was arrested and charged with second degree assault and public intoxication after he allegedly bit a man's testicles in Canton Tuesday.

According to the charging documents, Cpl. Michael Flaig was charged after he got into a fight with a man outside on Cinco de Mayo.

Baltimore city police said Flaig and the victim got into a fight outside Looney's Pub in the 2900 block of O'Donnell Street. The victim told police Flaig was groping a female friend and when he told Flaig to stop, he wouldn't.

The victim began walking home along S. Linwood Street, but police said Flaig tried to punch the man. The victim avoided getting hit. Flaig then pulled the man to the ground and when he straddled Flaig to keep him from fleeing, police say Flaig bit the man's testicles.

After the fight, Flaig entered another bar on O'Donnell Street, but city police located him; his blue and white Polo shirt has blood stains on it.

Police said his eyes were bloodshot, they smelled alcohol on his breath and he was slurring his words.

Flaig, 31, is a 10-year-veteran of the Anne Arundel County police force. He has been placed on paid administrative duties.

"These charges are disturbing and we have an obligation as police officers to conduct ourselves in a professional manner on and off-duty," said Anne Arundel County Chief of Police Timothy J. Altomare. "We will cooperate fully with the Baltimore Police Department as they conduct their investigation. At this time, we cannot comment further because for our agency, this is a confidential personnel matter."
