Orioles Reopening Day Is Today At Camden Yards

Tom Leonard is the General Manager of Pickle’s Pub, and Frank Zafonte is one of the owners of Frank And Nick’s across the street from Camden Yards.

Tom and Frank joined Ed and Steve to talk about Reopening Day an event featuring their businesses to welcome Orioles fans back to downtown tonight May 11th.

Tom joined us first and started by talking about what tonight will be like for reopening day saying “I’m assuming people will get here because of work and all that pre-game will start around 2pm…we’re doing donations for the Orioles food bank.” As for the idea of reopening day Tom said “it’s just an idea to get behind the O’s and show the world what Baltimore is really about.” As for how this is changing business down there Tom said “it’s was very strange, telling people last call in the 7th inning was a surreal experience.”

Frank joined the guys later in the show and started off by talking about fixing up the restaurant after the ugliness of the Baltimore riots saying “yea we got everything fixed the following morning, we didn’t want anyone to drive by and brag about what they did to us.” As for lost business from the curfew and having lost the Orioles for a series Frank said “it’s definitely been a little bit of a strain, and it hit us a little bit tough…we’ve had a lot of people supporting us however.” Finally Frank talked about what to expect from the event saying “we hope that the lunch crowd turns into the baseball crowd and we make it an all day event.”
