Ocean City is preparing for one of the busiest weekends of the summer. More than 250,000 are expected to roll through this weekend.

In a city that relies heavily on tourism, it's important visitors get a warm welcome so they keep coming back to this iconic destination.

Ocean City's mayor explains why Memorial Day weekend is the best time to kick off your summer plans on the Eastern Shore.

"This is a kickoff. This is excitement. This is about my first time out on the beach. This is so when you go back to work or you go back to school on Tuesday, you're the one with the tan, you're the one everybody is going to recognize had a great time over Memorial Day weekend," said Mayor Rick Meehan. "And Ocean City is the best place to do that."

And the excitement doesn't end when the sun goes down. Expect a special light show and more excitement well into the evening.
