Police: Woman Reports She Was Assaulted By Acquaintance
ANNAPOLIS, MD (WJZ) -- A 31-year-old man was arrested Tuesday, after a woman told police he assaulted her in front of her child.
The woman reports she was standing outside in the 200 block of Croll Drive around 11 a.m. with her child, when a man she identified as an acquaintance came up to her and began to strangle her. She was able to break away from his grip and escape for help.
The woman identified the man as Carl Smith of Shady Side.
Smith appeared to have been under the influence of drugs when he was picked up by police.
He was charged with first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Smith is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
