Officer Injured During Chase In Bladensburg

BLADENSBURG, Md. (AP) -- A Bladensburg police officer was injured while chasing a suspect.

Police say the incident occurred early Sunday morning when Officer Michael Luciotti, a two-year veteran, responded to a home for a report of a domestic assault. Police say a man at the home fled from the officer in a car, and pinned Luciotti against a parked car. Police say Luciotti fired his service weapon, but a spokesman for the department wouldn't say whether the man was struck by a bullet.

Both the suspect and the officer were taken to an area hospital for nonlife threatening injuries. Luciotti was treated and released.

The Prince George's County Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident, and Luciotti has been placed on administrative leave.
