WEATHER BLOG: Rain On The Way

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--A body of low pressure moving out of Missouri and into the Tennessee Valley is destined to bring rain to the mid-Atlantic region late today, tonight and tomorrow. High pressure located to the north of Maryland will be able to hang on long enough to keep most of today dry. But, with increasing and thickening clouds this afternoon, showers should overspread the area from southwest to northeast by day's end.

The steadiest rain is expected tonight and early tomorrow, and then clouds will linger in the afternoon with another shower or even a thunderstorm in a couple of spots. But the weather is expected to dry out in time for the weekend, and it will become warmer, too.

Currently, some thin high clouds overhead with thicker clouds off to the west and rain heading east from Ohio. Looks like it will be mid-afternoon or maybe a little later before any shower gets into the area so made that slight change. Forecast looks good other than that with some rain for tonight into tomorrow.

Current model consensus now shows the heaviest rain passing south of the Baltimore area with the northern fringe of any rain near to slightly north of the PA line.
