Metro Apologizing To Riders With Fare Credit

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro is apologizing to riders of the blue, orange and silver lines by issuing them a fare credit.

Metro says its issuing the credit because of significant service disruptions that inconvenienced riders over multiple commutes. The three lines were disrupted as a result of the derailment of a non-passenger train earlier this week.

Metro says riders who traveled on those three lines Friday between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. and used their SmarTrip card to enter and exit the system will get a credit on their card for the fare.

Metro says qualifying riders will get the credit on their SmarTrip card early next week when they tap their card at a Metro fare gate or fare machine.
