WEATHER BLOG: Sunday

The city remained dry and mostly sunny on Saturday with a high temperature of 89 degrees. The overnight low was 61.

With a strong Bermuda high remaining across the western Atlantic, another day of sunshine and hot conditions will occur on Sunday. The high temperature on Sunday will be well short of the current record of 101, back in 1997.

Similar conditions will be in the offing on Monday. Monday appears to be the warmest day of the last few days. While there was concern that there could be a shower or thunderstorm on Monday night, latest trends suggest Monday night will remain rain free across the area.

Showers and thunderstorms look to be spotty and arrive across the region beginning on Tuesday and will continue into Thursday. It will not be an all day rain, but these storms will be hit-or-miss.

A storm system that is expected to bring severe weather across a good portion of the central U.S. during the early part of the week will shift eastward and move across the East Coast sometime between Thursday and Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will be more numerous in nature. It is too early to determine the severity and timing of these storms by the end of the week but this is something that will be monitored over the next few days. Our current thinking is that storms will not be as strong as those expected across the central US.
