Repeat Offender Sentenced For Killing Toddler In Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A Baltimore jury convicted a repeat offender for attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and a first-degree murder that left a one-year-old child dead.

In May of 2013, Baltimore police officers were driving on the 1200 block of Cherry Hill Road when they witnessed multiple men shooting at a vehicle, which had the one-year-old child and his father in the car.

An investigation later revealed that Cornell Harvey, one of the shooters, arranged a meeting with the father of the murder victim by fabricating a story to leave him and his son open to being ambushed.

Rashaw Scott and his son Carter were both shot multiple times, and Carter later died from his injuries.

The jury sentenced Harvey to two consecutive life sentences plus 50 years on June 12.

Harvey was a repeat offender who was once acquitted of murder charges and convicted of second degree assault. He also had pending federal charges for racketeering, distribution of heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
