Baltimore Man Charged With Stealing Medication During Riots
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A Baltimore man is charged in federal court today after authorities say they recovered stolen medication in connection to a CVS pharmacy looted during the Baltimore Riots.
Police say 25-year-old Rashad Robertson, of Baltimore, was in possession of Alprazolam, a prescription drug stolen during the April 27th unrest.
According to authorities, on June 17, police were following a different individual who was suspected of having a handgun which subsequently led them to a residence where Robertson lived.
Inside the home, authorities say they found various medications that had no prescribed recipient on them and labels that belonged to CVS.
After questioning the suspect police say Robertson admitted that the medications came from the CVS looted during the April riots.
Robertson faces a maximum sentence of one year and a $1,00 fine if convicted.
He appeared in court Wednesday and was released under pretrial supervision.
On July 16, 2015, a federal grand jury indicted 24-year-old Raymon Carter, of Baltimore, with committing arson on the same CVS Pharmacy. Carter has pleaded not guilty.
