Carson: Can A Man Of Great Surgical Skill Lead A Nation?
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ben Carson is the only 2016 presidential candidate who's never led a state or company or run for political office. No matter. In his view, someone who can perform life-or-death operations can run the country.
As a storied neurosurgeon, Carson challenged the medical status quo. In one famous case, he cut out half of a child's brain to end her seizures. In another, he separated twins joined at the head.
Carson tells The Associated Press his three-decade career at Johns Hopkins Hospital honed his skills at getting the best out of people working with and under him.
His lack of executive experience produces deep skepticism from critics.
Yet in an Associated Press-GfK poll, Carson has the highest positive and lowest negative rating of any Republican judged by registered GOP voters.
