Parents Arrested For Killing 9-Day-Old Son

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A nine-day-old baby boy is murdered. Both of the parents have been arrested and charged in their son's death.

Tracey Leong has the disturbing allegations.

The death of this nine-day-old infant has shocked this quiet Baltimore neighborhood. Some people say they didn't even know a child was living inside the home.

During baby Matthew Kirsch's short life, police say he suffered cruel and violent treatment at the hands of his parents, Matthew and Anne Kirsch.

Both the mother and father in this case are charged with murder, child abuse, neglect and various assault charges," said Det. Jeremy Silbert, Baltimore Police Department.

On October 20, police were called to a home in the 4200 block of Groveland Avenue. Baby Matthew's parents told police they found their son unresponsive.

The nine-day-old was then taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"It's almost impossible to find the words to describe this type of incident and to imagine what this infant endured," said Det. Silbert.

Charging documents say the little boy was a road map of abuse, with signs of dehydration, malnutrition and blunt force trauma--disturbing details that are upsetting for neighbors to learn.

"People have a lot of problems, a lot of problems," said Samadah Mubdibey, neighbor. "And that baby's life ended so very, very fast."

Police say the baby was never born in a hospital and both the parents are admitted heroin addicts.

Both parents are being held at Baltimore City Central Booking.
