British Airways Brings Luxury "Dreamliner" To BWI

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Luxury liner. British Airways is bringing a new way to travel in style to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. The company's Boeing 787 "Dreamliner" will start making international flights.

As Gigi Barnett explains, it's an airplane aficionado's dream.

It's the most fuel-efficient passenger jet in the skies. Inside, it may be the most luxurious---and the Boeing 787 "Dreamliner" is coming to BWI.

The jet is owned by British Airways. The airline company says its "Dreamliner" will make daily, non-stop flights from BWI to London Heathrow.

BWI is the fourth airport around the world to get the passenger jet.

"There are literally markets across the globe looking to get this `Dreamliner' service from British Airways," said BWI Spokesman Jonathan Dean. "We're very fortunate and enthusiastic."

This is just one highlight at BWI. The airport is reporting a banner year. Back in August, it hit a record-breaking two million passenger mark and international traffic jumped some 32% from last year.

The first "Dreamliner" flights are set to take off on August 1, 2016.

Dulles International Airport also offers flights on the "Dreamliner."
