The Norris & Davis Show Best Of - Week Of November 21st

The Norris & Davis Best of for the week of November 21st features an interview with former NFL great Daryl "Moose" Johnston, an update on the Terps coaching search with Jeff Ermann, and a look at the business side of the NFL with former Raiders CEO Amy Trask.

DARYL "MOOSE" JOHNSTON

Former Dallas Cowboys fullback and current FOX analyst Daryl "Moose" Johnston joined Ed an Steve to talk about the Ravens disappointing 2-7 start to the season, as well as the latest news and notes around the NFL.

Steve asked Daryl if he thinks the Ravens are as bad as their 2-7 record indicates. Daryl acknowledged that the Ravens are not as bad of a team as people think they are, "this is something were seeing across the league. I think in the league now there are around 8 plays a game that shift the momentum and lead to teams winning. The teams who are at the top of the standings are making those plays and the teams at the bottom are not. I think the way the Ravens have also shifted the way they are playing this year which has a lot to do with the personnel changes."

Ed asked Daryl about his thoughts on Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco's performances this season. Daryl noted that there are a few factors in why he has struggled this season, "Joe throws a really good deep ball but teams are putting a lot of effort in not allowing offenses to beat them over the top. I think the big thing is that there isn't the supporting cast there that has been there in the past. I also think he's feeling a good amount of pressure."

Daryl went on to discuss the Broncos quarterback situation, and whether the NFL should adjust the playoff home field advantage rules.

JEFF ERMANN

Jeff joined Ed and Steve to talk about candidates for the Maryland football head coaching job.

Steve asked Jeff whether Lane Kiffin has interviewed for the Maryland head coaching job. Jeff noted that while th"they spoke to lane kiffin. looking back on the story I worded it as an interview when it was probably more of reaching out. maybe its a case where they want to cast a wide net to make sure they get their guy."

Ed asked Jeff about the likelihood of Lane Kiffin taking the Maryland job. Jeff believes that a head coaching job in the Big Ten would be tough to pass up on for Kiffin, "I think that its very hard to get a Division I head coaching job especially in the Big Ten. There's a lot of other jobs opening up which will make it more difficult to land a big name, but Maryland should be able to get a quality coach."

Jeff went on to discuss the possibility of Bill O'Brien taking the Maryland job, and a preview of the Maryland vs. Georgetown game tonight.

AMY TRASK

Amy Trask of CBS Sports, who was the former CEO of the Oakland Raiders, joined Ed and Steve to discuss the latest news and notes around the NFL.

Steve asked Amy about whether or not she feels Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti should consider making changes both in the front office and in the coaching staff. Amy noted, "I'm not thinking that if I'm Steve Bisciotti. I think very highly of Steve as well as Ozzie Newsome and John Harbaugh. I think what you have in Baltimore with the ownership, general manager and head coach is something that most teams around the NFL are looking for."

Ed asked Amy if she thinks their are a lot of bad football teams in the NFL this season. Amy acknowledged that it is too soon to make that assumption, "I think it's a better conversation to have at the end of the regular season. There are still a lot of games to be played. Let's see how the 2 win teams like Dallas, Tennessee, Cleveland and San Diego finish at the end of the season."

Amy went on to discuss the Ravens salary cap situation as well as the Ravens recent struggles when evaluating talent.
