Police: Small Plane Loses Power, Makes Emergency Landing

ODENTON, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a small plane lost power after takeoff and made an emergency landing at an Anne Arundel County airport.

The 1965 Mooney aircraft took off from Tipton Airport in Odenton on Sunday afternoon with a plan to fly to Florida. But once the plane was airborne, police say the plane lost power for unknown reasons.

Police say the pilot, 48-year-old Paul Antoinette of Baltimore, tried to return to the airport just south of Fort Meade. The pilot couldn't make it all the way back to the runway and landed on a grassy area, but police say there were no injuries.
