Metro: Man Hit, Killed By Metro Train In Md. May Have Fallen

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a man struck and killed by a Metro train in Maryland may have fallen from the platform.

It happened about 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Capitol Heights station. Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says surveillance video shows that the man was unsteady on his feet as he walked alone on the platform. He says the man fell as the blue line train approached and was pinned beneath the train.

Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says emergency workers tried to rescue the man, who was dragged 200 feet into the tunnel, but he died.

Metro Transit Police tweeted that foul play was not suspected.
