Teen Charged After Stabbing Classmate In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- What's supposed to be a place of learning turned into a crime scene after a student stabbed another student Tuesday. Documents show the attack was planned and the teen suspect is now facing charges.

Investigator Mike Hellgren has a closer look at the new information.

Seventeen-year-old Ananias Jolley has gone through surgery and is still fighting for his life in critical condition after being stabbed over and over again in a classroom inside his high school in west Baltimore.

Another 17-year-old student, Donte Crawford, has now been charged as an adult for the crime.

Jolley's friend and fellow senior at Baltimore's Renaissance Academy, Shantay Lockett, is demanding answers as to how this could happen.

"I don't understand how he got past security when they're supposed to check everybody when they come into the school," Lockett said.

So is the grandmother of another student at the school.

"It's a mess," she said. "It's a mess up in here."

The school remains closed.

According to charging documents WJZ obtained, the young suspect was lurking outside the classroom in the moments before the stabbing. He was captured on surveillance cameras.

Documents show Jolley stumbled out of class and collapsed, turning unresponsive.

Crawford was arrested at his home, where officers found clothing covered in blood.

After such a scary incident, WJZ wanted answers to critical questions about security, so we went to the top, asking City Schools CEO Dr. Gregory Thornton. While he did not answer, he previously said the community is coming together in a meeting next week to address the violence.

This is not the first incident at the school.

"Last week it was a gun," Lockett said. "I don't understand how kids can get through the hall monitors."

At last check, Jolley was still in critical condition.
