Poll: 8 In 10 Americans Think Another Terror Attack Is Likely

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Terror attacks are having an influence on American thinking according to a new CBS/ New York Times poll.

WJZ Political Reporter Pat Warren reports, 8 in 10 Americans polled think another attack is at least somewhat likely.

The CBS/New York Times poll shows the highest percentage of Americans expecting another terror attack since the aftermath of 9-11.

Given the recent frequency 44% of those polled believe another terror attack is likely in the next few months.

"The threat is growing and evolving faster than the administration's efforts to counter it," said Sen. John McCain.

For the first time since 2006, terrorism outranks the economy as the most important problem today, and 7 out of 10 Americans see ISIS as a major threat.

At a memorial last week Baltimore- area Muslim leaders decried the attacks.

Only 34-percent of the Americans polled approve of President Obama's handling of terrorism.

Crisis and strategy expert Rob Weinhold tells WJZ this new record low for the president is troubling.

"Whether you're the leader of the country, or the leader of a corporation, or a leader in the community the bottom line is leaders must provide a safe place to live work and raise a family and in the absence of safety, whether physical or emotional, everything else fails," said Weinhold.

The poll also shows 48% disapprove of the president's overall performance.
