Royal Farms Arena Takes Top Spot For Ticket Sales In US

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Number one in the nation and number nine in the world. Royal Farms Arena was the highest-grossing venue of its size in the country this year, according to Billboard Magazine.

Pat Warren reports the crowds keep coming.

Royal Farms Arena could be its own hall of fame. There's a history of royalty at Royal Farms Arena and generations of Marylanders have seen their favorites here.

"When you really think about who was on was on this stage between Martin Luther King, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr...it's just surreal. It's something that other places can't buy---history---and we have it here in Baltimore," said Royal Farms Arena General Manager Frank Remesch.

And don't we know it. Royal Farms Arena grossed nearly $17 million since November 2014 and ranked number one by Billboard Magazine for a venue of its size. The seats just keep on selling.

"This proves once again that if you bring the right events and people support those events, we'll keep getting better events," he said.

Like Garth Brooks, Janet Jackson, Justin Bieber and Maroon 5---who are all coming here next year.

"We are pushing 11 sold out shows right now: Garth Brooks and Rihanna, Like Bryan, Jeff Dunham...I could keep naming them. It's phenomenal for Baltimore," he said.

Say what you want about the age of the building; its popularity is timeless.

The arena has consistently ranked in the top 10 for the past 10 years. It seats 14,000 and has been in the number one spot three times since 2009.
