Man Wanted In Baby's Death In Custody After Fleeing Authorities

EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- A man wanted in the death of a three-month-old boy has been apprehended, WJZ has learned.

According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Keith D. Griffin was wanted in the death of Aaman Perez.

Griffin, along with the infant's mother, 26-year-old Aja M. Terry, were charged Friday in Aaman's death.

The charges stem from an incident on the night of Dec. 16, when deputies responded to a home in the 1800 block of Eloise Lane for a report of a child in cardiac arrest.

Reports indicated the child was choking.

Deputies began CPR on the unresponsive infant until medics arrived. The baby was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead around 10:25 a.m.

An autopsy showed the baby's cause of death was head trauma.

Both Griffin and Terry fled the area before deputies could take them into custody.

Terry was placed in custody on Sunday morning in Newark, Delaware, but authorities were still searching for Griffin.

Two other children -- Aaman's twin brother and a 5-year-old boy -- were placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

According to authorities, Griffin in the mother's boyfriend.

On Tuesday afternoon, WJZ's Amy Yensi learned of the arrest via the sheriff's office.

Authorities also say the autopsy indicates the child's abuse was ongoing and not a one-time incident.
