2 Young Girls Among 4 Hurt In Baltimore Shooting

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Two young girls are among four people shot at a West Baltimore convenience store. Now police have arrested one man--and wait until you hear how them tracked him down.

Meghan McCorkell has more on the investigation.

Police say they caught one of the shooting suspects after he was accidentally shot by his accomplices.

Behind the doors of the Four Seasons Mini Mart on W. North Avenue, two young girls become some of the latest victims of violence in the city.

"Little kids. Yeah, it's kind of crazy about the little children. They're so young," one man said.

The 11 and 12 year olds were among four people caught in the crossfire when bullets flew inside and outside of the store.

One of those shot was 18-year-old Jahi Rashad Hamilton, who police now say was also one of the gunmen.

"Those reckless, callous bad guys not only shoot three unintended people, they shoot one of their accomplices," said T.J. Smith, Baltimore City Police Department.

Investigators say surveillance video in the area shows Hamilton and two other shooters open fire at the store, striking the two girls and a 47-year-old man.

None of them were the person the gunman was targeting.

"As to the motive of this shooting, it appears to have been retaliatory," said Stanley Brandford, Baltimore City Police Department.

Retalliation for a shooting involving another innocent bystander that happened minutes before.

That shooting happened just blocks away in the 500 block of Bloom Street.

A woman was walking towards a group standing on the corner when someone fired at them and hit her by mistake.

"There's no good reason why this should happen on any street in Baltimore City. It sickens all of us," said Brandford.

Now police say they need help finding multiple gunmen who caused all of this.

Hamilton has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder.

WJZ has learned Hamilton previously faced multiple charges in a carjacking incident earlier this year.
