Thousands Across Charm City Ring In 2016

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Celebrations across Charm City as thousands ring in 2016.

Tracey Leong has more.

Cheers of excitement at the Charmery in Hampden!

The younger crowd gathering outside the ice cream shop celebrating right before their bedtime!

"We wanted an event for kids, we can celebrate excitement of New Year's but a little earlier," said David & Laura Alima, Charmery Owner.

And parents thankful they don't have to wait till midnight.

"We are going to try and stay up late tonight, but I doubt we'll succeed, so having this as a celebration is great," said Chrissy Goldberg.

Across the city: an older crowd heading to Power Plant Live.

"We got live bands we've got DJ's, we got confetti cannons, we got lasers," said Chris Furst, Power Plant Live.

An event attracting people from 37 different states.

"We're from Jersey we decided to venture somewhere new, we are sick of the places around us and we heard this is a lot of fun," said Kelley Mulryne.

And over at Harbor East, it's all about the view.

"Have a bunch of champagne tonight everyone's going to have a great night celebrating the New Year fireworks right up front as well," said General Manager Ian Shamosh, Azumi Restaurant.

No matter the location, revelers are making New Year's resolutions they plan to keep.

Kelley Mulryne says she plans to "get her life together by next year, actually consistently go to the gym every day."

6-year-old Isaac says he plans to do more chores because, "daddy said we should have more chores, I can't wait how to learn how to fold clothes."
