Was Suggs' Injury The Achilles Heel For The Ravens Organization?

As Steve Bisciotti, Dick Cass, Ozzie Newsome, and John Harbaugh address the media in the end of season press conference, the overall mood was optimism. All of the men on the staff feel despite having a not-so-wonderful season, the Baltimore Ravens do not, and will not, need to be overhauled.

The entire coaching staff is staying put, besides the linebackers coach, and many of the players just need some more development. So the odds of the heavy hitters like Justin Tucker, Marshal Yanda and Terrell Suggs sticking around is pretty good.

But speaking of Suggs, Bisciotti said he definitely underestimated the impact of losing Suggs in Week 1. Losing him in week one had an obvious trickle down effect on the entire defense and team.

They say when Ray Lewis was with the Ravens, players seemed to just naturally play with that extra 10% just from being on the same field as him.

The same seems to ring true for the outside linebacker that took on a role of a leader for the team. Suggs still leads the record for Ravens' all-time sacks with 106.5, which is 36.5 more than any other player in team history. He is also the franchise's second-leading tackler behind Ray Lewis.

However, Steve Smith Sr., who also suffered a season-ending injury, says his teammate certainly isn't "the ray of sunshine he usually is."

So where does this leave the ravens now?

Well, Suggs is expected back in the 2016 season and the entire staff feels optimistic that the team can get back on track with much of the same players from this past season.
