Collapses Are Real Danger During Heavy Snowfall

BEL AIR, Md. (WJZ) -- Emergency crews respond to several collapses around Maryland after some areas see more then two feet of snow.

The most significant collapse happened at a Safeway on Brierhill Drive in Bel Air, where the ceiling is bowed over the produce section of the store.

It did not open up and no one was injured.

Other collapses have been reported around the region -- including porches collapses in Baltimore.

The roof of a fieldhouse collapsed at Concordia Preparatory School in Towson and the Dillion Fieldhouse collapsed at Mount St. Mary.

And in Poolesville, a barn collapsed with horses trapped inside.

However, at the barn collapse a couple horses needed medical attention.

Also in Montgomery County a condominium's boiler building's roof collapsed, displacing more than 200 residents. Again, no injuries were reported.
