Where's The Plow? Residents Frustrated In Baltimore County

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ) -- Buried in snow. Days later, people are still digging out from the blizzard of 2016.

Derek Valcourt with more from frustrated residents waiting for a plow truck.

In Owings Mills, neighbors are doing what they can, and asking the same question? "Why us?"

Plows left a huge snow pile halfway up their street. The piles are now so big, the trucks couldn't finish the job.

At least a dozen homeowners are still trapped.

"That's been almost 36 hours now since they left. And I hear nothing in the wind that they're coming to fix this," one man said.

"We have two little ones. I have a two-month-old and a two-year-old, so we're getting a little stir crazy," one woman said.

The concern in some of these neighborhoods is for the elderly and the sick.

For example, along Bridal Wood Court in the county, ambulance workers had to carry a 70-year-old dialysis patient hundresd of feet up a steep hill through thick snow.

That neighborhood isn't alone. Throughout the region, homeowners along some of the smaller cul-de-sacs are also still waiting.

"It's frustrating, and it's scary. In case there's an emergency, you can't get out," said one woman.

It's also a hassle to neighbors in Pikesville.

"I can't get out myself. I can't go to work. I'm missing my time from work. I have to call in sick. And I have a four-wheel drive truck. It's too deep," one man said.

Baltimore County officials say 98 percent of their streets have been cleared. The biggest problems are in the western part of the county.

They say they will be working around the clock to make sure every road is cleared as quickly as possible.
